You are the unsung heroes and warriors with poor aim and amazing death scene skills.

The face of society has changed. Shortly after Pandora revealed the existence of Immortals to the world, various governments and powers-that-be have scrambled to determine how best to handle these supernatural individuals. They have sought knowledge from any organizations who would provide it--some more reliable than others. Pandora vies with the Enforcers to become the primary point of contact for officials throughout the globe.

Now thrown into the spotlight, the Immortals must choose where their place in society is. Will the humans live peaceably beside them? Is peace even possible for creatures that have known little but war for centuries?

Meanwhile, a power that was believed to be lost begins to stir, awakening in the unlikeliest of places...

GAMERS ‘ROCK’ THE UNIVERSE; An Experience with big rock, Zaba, the 96lb Crystal Skull
I. Changing Our Stories to Change the World
An experience of working with Zaba can be amazingly powerful and deeply transformational. Being in the presence of the combination of the piezoelectric effect and the Living Consciousness of quartz crystal can greatly magnify our natural strengths, intuitive and innately magical abilities.
What if you could change the story of your past to reflect the life you choose to live now; strong, present, fulfilled, insanely capable of manifesting what you want and need, and, most importantly, your soul free to Live As Love?  What if you could truly release old chains that have held you back, free yourself from thoughts and wounds that arise to mar your truth? What if you have the power to render your aura impenetrable to the negativity of others? What if changing your story could change your life? What if changing your life could change the world?
II. Befriending Your Sword (or shield, or crystal ball, or sacred book. . . or any ‘object’ with which you interact.) In Zaba’s world, there is no such thing as 'just' an object. Everything in physical form has a living, vital-energy, life-force and an innate consciousness and will... and THUS, just like ourselves (who are also made of vital energy embodied in physical matter), are beings with whom we can - when we learn to energetically shift our molecular and light-particle awareness – actually communicate with. Quartz, and specifically Zaba, has the ability to assist us in opening to this deep and unifying communion.
This workshop offers:
• An introduction to being in the presence of and working with quartz crystal beings and energy
• A bit about crystal skulls in general (history, myth and magic)
• The unveiling of Zaba with instruction on how to experience the incredible pulsing energy that pours through your body when Zaba is "awake"
• Learning to open physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually to the living presence of SOUL within every physical 'object'
• An actual communion and relationship development with your personal object of choice
• Inner-story-seeking, guided story-transformation meditation
• Healing Circle: Use of voice and movement, including a hands-on, one-on-one, massively-zingy experience of touching Zaba and assisting other players in actually transforming personal, community, global or universal stories that we wish to see a better outcome of. Join Zaba & Maya Massar (Crystal Shaman and Zaba’s caretaker), as we ROCK the Universe with positive change!

The Foundation system is a Dark Fantasy setting fraught with danger and mischief. The Rules are new and focus around tying characters to the world they live in. Combat is often deadly and is built around cooperation and team play.

This is an immersive character origin event. Players will choose their skills, background, and character history “in play”. There will be different cast members that will be present to teach the different aspects of the game, from combat, healing, and magic to name a few. The event should take roughly 3 hours and will easily accommodate late players and those that cannot stay for the entire event.

Bright Light, Everyone Dies
Limited Capacity seats available

On the Sun Coast lies the old and sprawling port city of Calamaz. She's the jewel and spearpoint of Mirago, an empire of sailcloth and gunpowder, and the most important city on the continent. You can find anything in Calamaz—especially secrets.

She is also the home of singularly gifted and influential people. You are one of those people. Wherever you're from, whatever your talents, you will have the power to steer the course of history.

Port of Secrets is a mostly GM-less game where the players will work together to create a narrative in the empire of Mirago, a setting reminiscent of 1790s Europe and America. The game is rules-light and focused on developing story and character, so players new to LARPing are welcome and encouraged to join."BRIGHT LIGHT, EVERYONE DIES is a one-shot worldbuilding event that will carry over into the ongoing game, THE COLONY. The game will fill in what happened to the ill-fated Demeter ground crew on Europa. Whatever happens during this event will be accepted as canonical history for THE COLONY. Players who participate in both THE COLONY and BRIGHT LIGHT, EVERYONE DIES will receive a data file on the Demeter ground crew. Players will receive pre-generated characters one week before the event. No-shows will be reassigned to stand-by players. Science fiction/cyberpunk costuming befitting a colonization crew on the ice moon, Europa, is required. WARNING: EVERYONE DIES"

Branching Storytelling in Game Writing
Limited Capacity seats available

"Branching storytelling" describes a more complex form of game writing that allows players to shape their character's personality and relationships with NPCs. This difficult but exciting design style leads to highly reactive and rewarding gameplay. Our brief course will give attendees insight into the world of branching game development, and cover the following: *Fundamentals of game writing (the "Useful-Short-Interesting" triangle).
*How branching game writing differs from the above.
*Case study (either based on an existing game, or one made up from scratch. TBD.)
*Class practice/exercises/games to play with the class content.
*Q&A as time allows.

Starship Artemis
Limited Capacity seats available

Signs up for this event are performed on site at the event room. Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator lets you turn your living room into the bridge of a spaceship. You and your friends assume the jobs of Captain, Helm, Science, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control. Together you operate your ship and defend the sector from evil aliens.

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. One computer runs the simulation and the “main screen”, while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do. Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room (“bridge”) , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn’t have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

A ghostly voice whispers to you. Help...please....free me...us. He will not let us leave.... Trapped in the house are dozens of spirits. They cannot rest until you free them. But quickly, if you take too long the spirits may just decide to keep their new playmates forever more. Based on Edgar Allen Poe's works this haunted house has chilling twists and icy thrills that will set your heart to pounding.

The Wyrd Gate: Hallowed Portrait 2.0 is an arcade style game similar to an escape room..  But with lots of rooms to explore. Here you insert a “coin” to play, face a horde of puzzles, traps, and monsters, and try to get as far as you can before death. Each time you run through the game you learn a little more, and get a little farther. Can you beat the game and free all the spirits without dying yourself?

ZTag Live Zombie Infection
Limited Capacity seats available

ZTag a live zombie infection game... the style is similar to lasertag but instead of guns, we use LED badges.

We have taken the schoolyard game of tag and re-invented it with zombies and flashing lights! Each player wears the ZTag as a badge with an LED health indicator. If you’re a human, your light is green, if you’re a zombie, your light is red. Zombies can “infect” human players just by getting close (each ZTag receives and transmits information to the other ZTags within its "reach"). Humans stay alive by avoiding zombies or boosting their health at health stations and checkpoints.

Limited Capacity seats available

Learn about crafting! Learn about nature! Learn about learning! Learn how to craft engaging true stories about nature and use them to build a better world! Then craft some stories yourself!

Science and nature are part of everyday life, yet they often feel distant from our everyday experiences. The Puzzle of Life is a playful tool for bridging that gap. It is a toy, a puzzle, and a model. It is a beautiful and flexible storytelling aid that allows you to explore the structure and function of interdependent systems - systems such as forests, deserts, oceans, cities, social networks, and more. In this workshop, we’ll introduce you to the Puzzle, tell you some true stories using the Puzzle, then help you make your own version of the Puzzle, and help you learn to use your Puzzle to tell your own stories.

You’ll come away with information, inspiration, a custom edition of the Puzzle on wooden pieces (made by you), and lots of great stories to share with your friends.

Songlines
Limited Capacity seats available

Songlines is a new role-playing game system where music is the GM, determining which scenes are played, what needs to be done, how long the scene lasts, and the pacing/tone of the scene. No familiarity with the songs are required, and during the scene, they're background filler (and a timer).

Songlines scenarios combine traditional dice-rolling (d6s) plus role-playing (sometimes like larp) and making things. They are also genre-neutral, and the system can be used for any setting.

This scenario will be loosely based on the historical figure of Boudica, queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe, who led her people to revenge against the Romans and burned London to the ground around the year 60 A.D.

Also, please be aware that this historical fantasy adventure will have a high degree of physicality, for example, scenes might involve putting real face paint on before imaginary battle, or holding your hand in ice water, or throwing dice into a circle.

Player safety is my #1 concern, but know that players will be asked to do more than sit in a chair, narrating their actions, and rolling dice (though there will be some of that). No other players/GM will touch your person unless you allow it, i.e., this is opt-in.

Characters will be made prior to play. It is possible for your character to die during the scenario, but there will be alternative characters to play.

Content Warnings: Violence, war, gore, adult themes and language. Torture is a background element which can be minor or mediocre, depending on player preferences. Sexual assault is mentioned as part of backstory (will not be described, just mentioned). Safety techniques such as X-card, OK check, and an open door policy will be used (and explained if you are not familiar with them).

Principia Mathemagica: The Secret Council of 1688
Limited Capacity seats available

-Principia Mathemagica is a historical fiction/fantasy LARP set in a continent on the brink of both the Glorious and the Scientific Revolution. Expect a game of eccentric (and mostly real) rulers, including some of history's most colorful characters, set against a backdrop of international negotiations, courtly intrigue, ancient cyphers, and escalating magic. Based primarily around social interaction, simple treaty mechanics, several political elections, and a historically-researched system of Math Duels for those few scientists vying for the favor of the Royal Society, it should offer character roles for beginners and veteran social gamers alike.-

It's the summer of 1688—a good time for Christian Europe, both scientifically and religiously. The Ottoman Empire has been beaten back at Vienna and Belgrade, England is ruled once again by a Catholic king, and brilliant mathematicians Newton and Leibniz have just published world-changing treatises on calculus. But under the surface, darker things are brewing... and not just from the threat of a continent-wide war.

In an unprecedented move, Pope Innocentius XI has called for a secret
gathering of the leaders of the Christian world. Why? It seems that the Vatican has been sitting on something important and dangerous for half a century. Secrets of the Templars? A newly discovered book of the bible? The prevailing rumor, though, is that when Galileo Galilei was arrested by the Inquisition in 1634, they confiscated his writings, and found within those a set of mathematical, scientific rules governing the creation and control of a strange force he called "magicae." And with the 17th century ending in a blaze of technological progress, the scientific community is getting dangerously close to uncovering these secrets... or so the rumors go.

And indeed, a number of notable philosophers and inventors have curiously been invited as well. The guest list is practically a who's-who of Europe: from Louis XIV of France to Peter the Great, from the inventors of calculus to the fathers of steam power. Word is in the air that the Pope is about to issue a world-changing proclamation...But this is also the largest gathering of European rulers in a century, and a lot of people are looking forward to do business at the conference, of both the official and unsavory sort.

So just what, exactly, are these secrets of Galileo's—and what will the
world's leaders decide to do with them? Will Leibniz kill Newton in a
duel? Are the dreadful rumors surrounding the Henri Jules, Prince of
Condé really true? Are the Knights Templar really gone? And where,
exactly, is Liechtenstein?

This is a four-hour theater LARP for anywhere from 20-45 players (with a larger cast incorporating more of Europe). Players/characters will be assigned via a brief questionnaire of player preferences, leading to the distribution of character motivation and historical context documents, though this process should be simple enough to incorporate last-minute additions until the start of game. Please don't hesitate to contact the GMs if you have any questions.

*Note to Con organizers: Principia is a rebuild of a game previously and successfully several years ago at Brown University's ProCon 2011. Characters would ideally be distributed based on a short player/plot survey, with character motivations, game mechanics, and historical context summaries already in existence for up to 45 players. This would be ideally a night-time game, to provide a bit of flexibility on time (the GM for this has run several 40-50 person LARPS before, but never been to WyrdCon, and is not sure of the pace things move at).

Also wasn't sure what to put for materials reimbursements; but I'm anticipating around $50 of printing and nametag costs, and wouldn't mind recouping them if that's an option*

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room (“bridge”) , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn’t have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

Rendalir Remembered
Limited Capacity seats available

Rendalir Remembered is a dark fantasy boffer LARP with a heavy emphasis on roleplay and player driven story. It is a game of colliding cultures, of battles fought in courts and minds as much as with sorcery and steel. The world of Rendalir offers immense cultural diversity, populated only by the gods, their children, and humans. Above all, this game is about one race, one species, interacting only with the many variations of themselves, and surviving in a world where powerful beings walk among them everyday, able to do as they wish.

The story for Rendalir Remembered is driven by player choice and consequence. Players have the opportunity to be heroes, but are not guaranteed success. Everything will be up to YOU. Heroes are not born. They are made. If you want to be a hero, you must earn it.

Dungeon Duos
Limited Capacity seats available

Dungeon Duos is an “arcade style” LARP based on the Infocom computer games (such as Zork) from the 1980s. It is scalable from 2 players up to 10 players at a time and is played in pairs: one player is the “Warrior” and one player is the “Wizard” on each team. It is a recreation of the “Go North - Get Axe - Attack Grue With Axe” variety. Each player begins with a list of 5 “commands” (verbs) which they can understand. As the game goes on, players learn additional commands as they find them in the game. Players can only move and act if their partner tells them to do so, starting the game with one player as “player” and the other as “character”, switching roles and gaining more commands as the game progresses. The player tells the character what to do and the character can ONLY do what the player tells them… AND can only do things that are on their beginning character card or are on any additional cards they have collected.

Teams can play the game again later in the day to see how much further they can get and how much more treasure they can attain. Players can also change partners in future plays of the game.
Dungeon Duos has been the brainchild of Pat Mannion for the past 5 years and was play-tested at UCLA’s Enigma’s annual game convention, “Maxicon” in 2016.

Fire and Flora: A seriously fun card game
Limited Capacity seats available

Nature is deep and beautiful. Unfortunately, in modern American life, most people - and most children - have relatively little contact with nature. As a scientist, gamer, idealist, and child-at-heart, I was saddened by this situation but inspired by the potential of games to teach, transform, and inspire.

In Fire and Flora, your goal is to manage a diverse, and beautiful landscape in an unpredictable world. The game cards represent real-world plants, animals, places, and ecological forces, while the game rules model the real-world connections among these real-world elements. To win the game, you’ll have to be crafty, and make good use of your resources: rainstorms, fires, weed crews, pack rats, evil squirrels, and more.

Fire and Flora has been endorsed by teachers, scientists, full-grown kids, still-growing kids, and was an Official Selection at IndieCade 2015. Come join us for some seriously good fun!

Easy as Robbing a Bank (Must contact GM)
Limited Capacity seats available

The robbery should have taken less than 10 minutes.
Four hours later it was a media madhouse.
Eight hours later it was a national event.
Twelve hours later, it was history.

Inspired by a real NYC bank robbery in August 1972 and the subsequent movie Dog Day Afternoon, this live action role playing event explores the issues raised from the true incident while emulating the real event. However, other than the premise (spoiler! It's a bank robbery!), what happens in the larp does not have to follow what happened in the movie nor real life. Can things end differently? The first ten minutes of the larp is a scripted scene (just the actions, not the dialogue), but after that the players control their destinies. No familiarity with the film or the actual robbery expected, nor are there penalties if you do know.

This larp features minimal mechanics and (hopefully) maximum drama. Expect a serious tone with some comedic elements.
Pre-generated characters provided.
Two players will be rotating NPCs playing a few different characters (still pre-gen).
An in-game meal will be provided.

Costuming: minimal; business attire (from 1972 if possible, or just business, or just early 70's).

Rated R (18+ only) for simulated violence, strong language, adult themes, LGBTQ elements, class inequality and racial tensions.

THIS GAME REQUIRES PREP WORK ON CHARACTERS BEFOREHAND--all players MUST respond to GM requests prior to play (no walk-ons).

Battle for Lannerea
Limited Capacity seats available

Rise of Lannerea is a role-playing / board game with light combat. Imagine a game like RISK, but instead of rolling dice, players battle each other for ownership of the land.

Lannerea is a world filled with rich fields, tall forests and majestic mountains. Five powerful kingdoms were established. Mankind waged vicious war against each other, hoping to unite the land under their banner. The land was shocked when a massive army of foreign invaders assaulted the land. It took the combined strength of the 5 Kingdoms to fight off the invaders.

5 Years after the Battle of the Five Kingdoms, the survivors of the war pick up the shambles of their damaged land. The natives utilized the valuable resources that the foreign invaders left behind. Fleets of ships have been constructed. The exploration of the unknown worlds heralds promise of rich and vast lands, ready to be discovered.

However, some kings’ goals lie not beyond the sea. Kings - amass your riches and rally your armies! Weapons will clash and blood will be shed as the world is once again thrown into chaos.

Fire Tag - A running game of true stories about California Chaparral
Limited Capacity seats available

Fire Tag is a game, a simulation, and a gateway - a gateway to understanding life and fire ecology in Southern California through movement and play. Players take on one of four roles: Grass, Shrub, Fire, and Rain. When the round begins, you run! Fires burn shrubs! Rain waters grass! Pandemonium ensues - but only briefly.

Each round represents a real-life ecological scenario, a scenario connected to a real place and a real time. Over multiple rounds, patterns emerge. When everyone is good and tired, we’ll circle up and discuss those patterns, laying out how they relate to the real-world stories and real-world ecology of Southern California ... and beyond!

P.S. This game requires a mid-sized open space. At least 20’x20’ square. Bigger is better. With a full complement of 20 people, a space 50'x50' would be best.
